El començament de març de 2018 va portar algunes relocalitzacions d’ocells que van hivernar però l’inici del mes s’il·luminà amb l’estornell rosat de Premià que es va poder veure regularment als vespres gràcies a l’amabilitat del seu descobridor, en Pep Cusó, però sobre tot per la troballa d’una nova espècie per a Catalunya (segons aquesta web): un botxí de l’estepa Lanius pallidirostris a l’Empordà. A finals de mes s’animà el panorama amb algunes cueretes i dos ànecs canyella al Llobregat.
[March 2018 begun with a few relocations of wintering birds but highlights of the month were the adult Rosy Starling at Premià de Mar, watched by tens of authors thanks to the generosity of its finder, Pep Cusó and the finding of a new species for Catalunya (according to this website): a Steppe Grey Shrike, the 1st for Catalunya at Baix Empordà comarca. By the end of the month two rare wagtails appeared and a couple of Ruddy Shelducks were found at Llobregat river]

At PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Alt Empordà, there were 3 Eiders (2 males and 1 female) on 8.3.2003 (Martí Rodríguez, Roger Jutglà, Joan Culí, Josep Mª Masferrer).One still there on 24.3 (Jordi Martí, Luis Salaverri). Three again on 27.3 (L.Gustamante) but 4 on 25.3.2003 (T.Montràs). There was a Red-throated Pipit Anthus cervinus at la Tancada meadows, Ebre delta, Tarragona on 16.3.2003 (David Bigas/PNDE)

A Pectoral Sandpiper Calidris melanotos was seen on 25.3.2008 at Filipines marsh, Llobregat Delta, Viladecans, Baix Llobregat (Joan Castelló). A Lesser Redpoll Acanthis cabaret was ringed on 11.3 at Sant Ponç reservoir dam, Solsonès, Lleida (Josep Cabrera). It was retrapped again on 27.3 (Josep Cabrera). See a photo enclosed (Raül Bastida). On 18.3.2008, a Rustic Bunting Emberiza rustica was seen and trapped and ringed at Buda Island, Ebro Delta, Tarragona (David Bigas, Adjutori Cunill, Jordi Feliu, Anna López, Yago Brugnoli, Joan Bernal, Iben Sørensen, Mariano Cebolla, Cristian Jensen).

There were two Goosanders Mergus merganser at Camarasa reservoir, Lleida, on 19.3.2013 (Eduard Marquès). A Moussier’s Redstart Phoenicurus moussieri was found on 18.3.2013 at Constanti, Tarragona (José Antonio Latorre). On 19.3 it was still there (Camilo Albert). Later on 19.3 it was still present (Albert Cama) and the bird remained most of the week: 20.3 (J.Bujons, S.Fernández et al); 21.3 (C.Albert et al; Javier Train, Moisés Moreno, Ricard Gutiérrez); 22.3 (Camilo Albert; Óscar Llama, Joan Antó et al) to 23.3 (Juan Sagardía, José Portillo, Joan Ventura, Camil Albert , Miguel Rouco, Gabri de Jesús, Gerard Dalmau, Clemente Álvarez Usategui, Nacho Castelao, Toni Alonso et al). Note: the list was extensive so these are minimum observers. Not seen from 25.3.2013 on. A Hooded Crow Corvus cornix was seen from Cal Tet hide, Llobregat delta, Baix Llobregat on 9.3.2013 (Xavier Larruy at ornitho.cat; Roberto Negro).

- Ànec canyella / Ruddy Shelduck Tadorna ferruginea (n=2)
(1-2) Baix Llobregat. On 27.3 there were two under Nelson Mandela bridge, El Prat de Llobregat, Baix Llobregat (Quique Carballal –see a photo below-; Jaume Bartra).
- Cabussó orellut / Slavonian grebe Podiceps auritus (n=1)
(1) Baix Ebre. A bird seen this winter was relocated on 3.3 between l’Ampolla and El Goleró, L’Ampolla, Baix Ebre (Quique Carballal). This bird was seen again at L’Ampolla on 5.3 (Manolo Sánchez-Blanch). L’Ampolla bird was still there on 14-15.3 (Manolo Sánchez-Blanch) and on 19.3 and 23.3 (Manolo Sánchez-Blanch). Seen again on 25.3 (Manolo Sánchez-Blanch) 
and on 27.3 (Manolo Sánchez-Blanch) and 28.3 (Quique Carballal, Javier Valladares) to 30.3 (Manolo Sánchez-Blanch; Joan Goy @ornitho.cat).
- Esparver d’espatlles negres / Black-winged Kite Elanus caeruleus (n=1)
(1) Pla d’Urgell. A bird was seen at Estany d’Ivars i Vilasana, Pla d’Urgell on 16.3 (Sergi Sales).
- Arpella pàl·lida russa / Pallid Harrier Circus macrourus (n=1)
(1) Alt Empordà. A male was seen at Castelló d’Empúries, Alt Empordà, on 31.3 (Ramon Aguilar @ornitho.cat).
- Becadell Gros / Great Snipe Gallinago media (n=1)
(1) Alt Empordà. On 10.3 a bird was seen at El Matà, Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Sant Pere Pescador, Girona (Ignacio López).
- Gamba groga petita / Lesser Yellowlegs Tringa flavipes (n=1)
(1) Baix Empordà. The 1w seen last month at Pals ricefields, near Basses d’en Coll, Pals, Baix Empordà was relocated on 2.2 (Albert Burgas @ ornitho.cat). Seen again on 3.3 (Sergi Sales; Josep Bujons, Francisco Pou), see a photo below. On 4.3 it was seen again (Daniel Valverde; Xavier Parra @ornitho.cat).Seen again on 5.3 at Basses d’en Coll, Baix Empordà (Irene Figueroa, Sergi Torné @ornitho.cat), 6.3 (Josep Bel, Josep Fontcuberta), 7.3 (Julien Piette; Jaume Prat; Hugo Foxonet @ http://ornitho.cat ) and 10.3 (Joan Pujol; Pere Baucells, Christoph Haag @ ornitho.cat). - Gavià del Caspi / Caspian Gull Larus cachinnans (n= 2)
(1) Tarragonès. On 3.3 a 1w was found at the harbour (Camilo Albert). See two photos below.
(2) Alt Empordà. One 2cy was seen at Pedret dump , Pedret i Marzà, Alt Empordà, on 29.3 (Joan Goy).
- Botxí d’estepa / Southern Grey Shrike Lanius pallidirostris (n=1)
(1) Baix Empordà. The bird found on 28.2 at Serra de Daró, Baix Empordà was seen , photographed and confirmed its id on 1.3 (Joan Goy, Àlez Ollé). Seen later by more authors (Martí Franch, Gerard Dalmau, Jordi Martí, Albert Burgas, Àlex Ollé, Gabri de Jesus, Aleix Comas i Pau Calero). The 1st for Catalunya. - Capsigrany balear / Balearic Woodchat Shrike Lanius senator badius (n=1)
(1) Baix Llobregat. On 17.3 a bird was seen at El Prat Beach, near La Roberta lagoon, El Prat de Llobregat, Baix Llobregat (Lluís Gustamante).
- Cornella emmantellada / Hooded Crow Corvus cornix (n=4)
(1) Baix Llobregat. On 1.3 a bird was seen at Bassa de l’Olla del Rei, Castelldefels, Baix Llobregat (Claudio Bracho @ornitho.cat). On 17.3 it was seen again at the same area (Claudio Bracho). See the enclosed thumbnail. One at Castelldefels on 20-21.3 (Francesc Ubach @ ornitho.cat).
(2-3) Baix Llobregat. On 2.3 a two birds were seen at Parc Can Mercader, Cornellà de Llobregat, Baix Llobregat (Marc Pérez). One was seen at Nelson Mandela bridge, El Prat de Llobregat on 29.3 (Quique Carballal @ornitho.cat).
(4) Baix Llobregat. A bird was present at Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Baix Llobregat from 28.3 (Xavi de Yzaguirre) to 31.3 (Sergi Sales).
- Mosquiter comú siberià / Siberian Chiffchaff Phylloscopus collybita tristis (n=3)
(1) Montsià. On 1.3 a bird showing tristis characters was seen and photographed, but not heard, at Aula Natura PLEGADIS, Sant Carles de la Ràpita, Montsià (Sergi Sales).
(2) Baix Llobregat. A bird was heard at Bassa dels Pollancres, Remolar-Filipines Reserve, Llobregat Delta, Viladecans, Baix Llobregat on 21.3 (Xavier Larruy @ornitho.cat). Perhaps the same bird seen this winter and not relocated for some weeks.
(3) Baix Ebre. A tristis like bird was at Les Olles, Baix Ebre, on 29.3 (Sergi Sales). See a photo below.
- Estornell rosat / Rosy Starling Pastor roseus (n=1)
(1) Maresme The adult found on 25.2 at Premià de Mar, roosting at Carrer de Sant Antoni, 23 was still present in early March, when large numbers of observers (to Catalan standards) attended the twitch: 3.2018 Pastor roseus 1 ad still at Premià de Mar, Maresme (Pep Cusó, Arnau Bonán, Toni Alonso, Pau Calero, Daniel Roca, Jordi Jover, Jaroa López, Ricardo Ramos, Sergi Torné, Ricard Gutiérrez, Lluís Gustamante, Jordi Cebrián), 2.3 (Sergi Fernandez, Manolo Romero, Josep Bujons, Cristina Rosas, Josep Crusafont, Carles Oliver, Sergi Aris, Julia Ferrer, Jordi Faus, Claudio Bracho, Quel, Guillem i Juan Manuel Izquierdo, Berta Codina, Hubert Mas, Oriol Baena i Ricard Busquets, Carles Tobella) and 3.3 (Jac Cirera, Alberto Somoza; Alfried Sánchez, Juan Miguel Díaz, Feliu López @ ornitho.cat). - Cuereta groga balcànica / Black-headed Wagtail Motacilla flava feldegg (n=1)
(1) Tarragonès. On 26.3 a bird was seen at Torre d’en Dolça, Vila-seca, Tarragonès (Jordi Jover; Lluc Sernis, Xavier Jiménez). See photos below (Jordi Jover).
- Cuereta citrina / Citrine Wagtail Motacilla citreola (n=2)
(1) Baix Ebre. On 27.3 a bird was seen at Les Olles lagoon, Delta de l’Ebre, Baix Ebre (Jonathan Skipper @ ornitho.cat).
(2) Baix Ebre. Another was seen near l’Ampolla on 27.3 (Mariska Huub de Graaf).
- Piula grossa / Richard’s Pipit Anthus richardi (n=5+)
(1) Montsià. On 4.3 a bird was seen at El Serrallo, Sant Jaume d’Enveja, Montsià (Manolo Sánchez Blanch; Quique Carballal @ornitho.cat). One remained near El Matà – Migjorn junction on 28.3, perhaps this bird or one of the wintering individuals in the area (David Bigas).
(2-3) Montsià. On 15.3 there were two birds at Buda island, Montsià (David Bigas). See two photos below. One was at Buda, perhaps a nbiwe, bird on 30.3 (David Bigas).
(4-5) Alt Empordà. Two birds were seen at Delfià, Rabós, Alt Empordà, on 31.3 (Ramon Aguilar @ornitho.cat).
- Passerell gola-negre / Lesser Redpoll Acanthis cabaret (n=1)
(1) Solsonès. The bird found on 9.2 at Solsona, S of the city near C-75, Solsonès remained there on 3.3 (Daniel Mañas). Relocated on 22-23.3.2018 still at Solsona, Solsonès (Daniel Mañas -see a photo below-; Ignacio López, Ferran Fontelles). On 25.3 it remained in the area (Ricard Busquets, David Butterfly, Daniel Mañas). Seen again on 29.3 (Jordi Comellas @ornitho.cat) and 30.3 (Daniel Mañas).
