Encara sota els efectes de la desescalada del COVID-19, a principis de mes ens arriben alguns estornells rosats procedents d’una invasió que es produí a Europa  però de la que ens van arribar pocs exemplars pel que s’esperava. A Lesser Yellowlegs Tringa flavipes, presumably an adult, was found on 1.6.2005 at El Garxal area, Delta de l’Ebre, Baix Ebre (David Bigas ). It remained most of the time hidden in a secretive area, away from the hides overlooking the area.

On 6.6.2005 one 1st summer Ring-billed Gull Larus delawarensis was seen at ca l’Arana beach, Llobregat delta Nature Reserve, El Prat de Llobregat, Baix Llobregat (Xavier Larruy). On 30.6.2005 a 1st winter moulting into 2nd winter  was found at the ecological ricefields of Riet Vell, at Ebre delta, Tarragona (Cristian Jensen, Iben Hove Sorensen/Audouin Birding Tours; David Bigas, Ignasi Ripoll and SEO/Birdlife volunteers). It remained into July 2005.

There was one dark Western Reef Egret Egretta gularis only having little white on the chin area at Buda island, Delta de l’Ebre, Montsià, on 26.6 (Marc Illa, Josep Illa).

The Lesser Flamingo Phoeniconaias minor reported last month has been seen intermitently in the Ebre delta in different areas along June (Ignasi Ripoll; Jordi Martí).

From 10-14.6.2015 a Terek Sandpiper Xenus cinereus was present at Punta de la Banya, Delta de l’Ebre, Montsià (Jordi Martí-Aledo).

On 6.6.2015 a Blue-cheeked Bee-eater Merops persicus was seen and photographed at Maresma de les Filipines, Delta del Llobregat, Baix Llobregat (Eio Ramón). See a photo below. 2nd for the area, first (1st for Spain too) was seen on June 1989.

  • Baldriga cendrosa atlàntica / Cory’s Shearwater Calonectris borealis (n=1)

(1) Barcelonès. At least one, see photos below, but perhaps up to three individuals were seen off Barcelona on 16.6 on board a fishing vessel at 41°20’25.4″N 2°30’28.7″E (Josep Manel Arcos @eBird). See two photos below.

 

 

  • Xatrac de bec groc tipus ‘elegant’ / Elegant-like Tern Thalasseus cf elegans (n=1)

(1) Montsià. An orange-billed tern, presumably an Elegant tern or perhaps a hybrid of some kind, was seen within the Sandwich Tern colony at Punta de la Banya, Delta de l’Ebre, on 19.6 (Daniel Oro, Albert Bertolero). See two photos below.

  • Graula / Rook Corvus frugilegus (n=14)

(1-13) Alt Empordà. Fourteen were seen at Figueres, Alt Empordà on 6.6 (Manel Barrios @birdingemporda.com). On 26.6 one was at Figueres, Alt Empordà (Lluís Estrada, Maria Mira, Sergi Sales @eBird).

 

  • Cornella emmantellada / Hooded Crow Corvus cornix (n=8)

© Ricard Gutiérrez(1-6) Baix Llobregat. Sant Boi de Llobregat. Two were seen near Alcampo market, Sant Boi de Llobregat, on 9.6. The nest was empty (Ricard Gutiérrez). One bird was seen at Camí de cal Francès, Sant Boi de Llobregat on 13.6 (Luís Miranda @eBird). On 15.6 one was seen at downtown Sant Boi de Llobregat, at Camps Blancs area (Luis Miranda @eBird). On 27.6 three were at the rural area between Can Dimoni and downtown Sant Boi, Baix Llobregat (Mireia Martín) and six were at the same place on 30.6 (Mireia Martín). See two photos below.

(7-8) Baix Llobregat. El Prat de Llobregat. Two individuals were present at Camí de la Bunyola, El Prat, on 7.6 (Lluís Toldrà @ornitho.cat) and two, probably the same, were seen at Nelson Mandela bridge, El Prat, on 9.6 (Víctor Cañadas @ornitho.cat). One was at downtown El Prat on 15.6 (Pau Esteban @ornitho.cat).

 

  • Estornell rosat  / Rosy Starling Pastor roseus (n=11)

(1) Alt Empordà. One was seen at La Rubina, Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Alt Empordà, on 1.6 (Eduard Marquès @birdingempordà.com).

(2) Garrigues. A bird was seen on 4.6 at Bovera, Garrigues, on the village roofs with Spotless Starlings Sturnus unicolor (Eladi Ribes). See a thumbnail enclosed.

(3-5) Baix Empordà. Two or three birds were seen at Ter river mouth, L’Estartit, Baix Empordà, on 4.6 (Joan Estrada Jofra, Montse Jofra). One remained there on 5.6 (Joan Estrada Jofra, Montse Jofra, Víctor Estrada @birdingempordà.com) and on 6.6 too (Joan Estrada Jofra, Montse Jofra, Víctor Estrada @birdingempordà.com).

(6-7) Gironès. Two were seen at Hortes de Santa Eugènia, Girona, Gironès, on 5.6 (Guillem Saguer Parés). See a record shot below.

(8) Baix Llobregat. A bird was seen at Ca l’Arana beach, El Prat de Llobregat, Delta del Llobregat, Baix Llobregat on 4.6 (Ferran López, Jaume Bartra). See three photos enclosed (Ferran López), the 14th-ever record for the Llobregat Delta.

(9) Segrià. A bird was seen at Lleida on 11.6 (José Manuel Pérez Redondo). See a photo below.

(10) Maresme. A bird was seen at Les Cinc Sènies, Mataró, Maresme on 12.6 (Daniel Roca). On 14.6 it was seen again (Daniel Roca @ornitho.cat).

(11) Alt Empordà. A bird was found at El Cortalet, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Alt Empordà, on 20.6 (Marc Franch, Enric Fusté i Albert Compaña @birdingemporda.com).
