L’inici de l’agost només porta el xatrac ‘elegant’ del delta de l’Ebre i a mitjans una cornella emmantellada al Baix Empordà. El dia 24.8 la daurada petita del Pacífic va tornar al delta de l’Ebre un any més [Agust was quiet with only the ‘Elegant’ tern of Ebre delta and by mid month a Hooded Crow at Baix Empordà. On 24.8 the Pacific Golden Plover, we think the same of the last years, returned to Ebre delta]

The two Lesser Flamingos Phoeniconaias minor found at Punta de la Banya, Delta de l’Ebre, Montsià by late July were still there the first ten days of August (David Bigas et al) Still both (unringed adults) on 12.8.2005 (Ricard Gutiérrez). See a photo below (Ricard Gutiérrez)
On 16.8 an adult Pectoral Sandpiper Calidris melanotos was seen at river Llobregat, just below the bridge of the former C-245 at Sant Boi de LLobregat (Raul Bastida)
On 23.8 a Terek Sandpiper Xenus cinereus was found at La Rogera lagoon, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Girona (Jordi Martí-Aledo, Teresa Montràs).
On 14, 18 and 19.8 a 2nd winter Ring-billed Gull Larus delawarensis was seen at Tancada lagoon, Ebre delta, Montsià (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé, Joan Gil). It is presumably the same bird seen until 13.6 in the same area. See a photo below -right bird- (Joan Gil).
A juvenile/1st winter Citrine Wagtail Motacilla citreola was seen on 15.8 at La Rogera, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Girona (Jordi Martí-Aledo , Francesc Kirchner).

There was a Presumed Hybrid Western Reef x Little Egret Egretta gularis x garzetta showing intermediate characters between both species at Punta de la Banya, Delta de l’Ebre, Montsià on 13.8 (Jordi Martí-Aledo) The Tancada hybrid was seen again on 1.8 and 17.8 and may well be the same bird seen at Punta de la Banya (Roser Solé, Josep Tantull, see a photo below).
On 7.8.2010 morning a Broad-billed Sandpiper Calidris falcinellus was found at El Goleró, Delta de l’Ebre, Tarragona (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé) and 17.8 (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé) to 19.8 (Juan Carlos Andrés, see a photo below). On 12.8 a different individual according to plumage characteristics was seen at Punta de la Banya, Delta de l’Ebre (Jordi Martí-Aledo).
There were 3 adult Red-necked Phalarope Phalaropus lobatus and a juvenile at Punta de la Banya, Delta de l’Ebre, Montsià on 8.8 (Jordi Martí-Aledo) There were two at Punta de la Banya too but visible from the public hide on the beach on 15.8 (Roser Solé, Josep Tantull).
An adult Royal Tern Thalasseus maximus/albididorsalis was fishing on discards along with other terns and gulls at L’Ametlla de Mar harbour, Baix Ebre, on 25.8 (Juan Carlos Andrés). The individual flew to the S after eating a fish (see a photo below).

On 13.8 an adult Pacific Golden Plover Pluvialis fulva, almost for sure the returning individual for another consecutive year, was seen and photographed at the same site as in previous years: Migjorn grassfields, Delta de l’Ebre, Montsià (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé, César Clemente, José Guerra). See a photo below (Josep Tantull) and two thumbnails here (José Guerra). It remained in the area on 15.8 (Guillermo Mayor) and 16.8 (Harold Wijts). Seen again on 19.8 (Lluís Gustamante). And on 21.8 (Jordi Martí-Aledo) to 23.8 and 30.8 (Manolo Sánchez Blanch).
There was one Broad-billed Sandpiper on 18.8 at Punta de la Banya, delta de l’Ebre, Montsià (Jordi Martí-Aledo). See a photo below.
There was one Pectoral Sandpiper Calidris melanotos at Reguerons, Viladecans, Barcelona on 4.8 (Joan Castelló). A juvenile was found on 24.8 at Cal Tet marshes, Delta del Llobregat, Barcelona (Ferran López). It remained there on 25.8 (Ferran López), 26.8 (Ferran López; Ricard Gutiérrez), and 28.8 (Ferran López). It remained into Septembre (Ferran López).
Presumably the same Terek Sandpiper Xenus cinereus found on 23.7.2015 at ‘Los cavalls’, Illa de Buda, Delta de l’Ebre, Tarragona was relocated again on 2.8 (Marc Gàlvez, José Guerra). Seen again later in the day (Bernat Iglesias).
There was a Red-necked Phalarope at Punta de la Banya, Delta de l’Ebre, Montsià from 4 to 8.8 (Jordi Martí-Aledo). On 9.8 two more gathered the first one totalling three (Jordi Martí-Aledo).A bird remained there from 17-19.8 (Jordi Martí-Aledo). An adult plus a juvenile were at Punta de la Banya on 21.8 (Jordi Martí-Aledo).
On 23.8 a juvenile Citrine Wagtail Motacilla citreola was at Migjorn grassfields, Delta de l’Ebre, Montsià (Salvador Solé, Juan González). On 28.8 two juveniles were seen at Cal Tet marshes, Llobregat Delta, Baix Llobregat (Ferran López, Ferran Pujol, Jaume Bartra). See a photo below (Ferran López). On 30.8 another juvenile was at Migjorn grassfields, Delta de l’Ebre, Tarragona (Manolo Sánchez Blanch).
On 26.8.2015 a Hooded Crow Corvus cornix was seen at L’Ampolla, Delta de l’Ebre, Tarragona (Manolo Sánchez Blanch).

Ànec canyella / Ruddy Shelduck Tadorna ferruginea (n=6)
(1-2) Pla d’Urgell. A couple was found at Estany d’Ivars i Vila-Sana on 26.8 (Quim Minoves), see a photo below. On 27.2 they were seen again but it was noted that both were ringed (Pere Baucells, Joan Rodríguez).
(3-6) Montsià. Four birds were seen at Punta de la Banya, Delta de l’Ebre, Montsià, on 31.8 (Carles Domingo). See a vidcap below.
- Daurada petita del Pacífic / Pacific Golden Plover Pluvialis fulva (n=1)
(1) Montsià. An adult, probably the same returning individual of the last years, was found at Migjorn grassfields on 25.8.2020 (Ricard Gutiérrez). See photos below (hand-held mobilescoping). Seen again the following days at the same site: 26.8 (Carles Durà, Javier Subirats, Xavier Parra; Joan Gimestells, Xavi Escobar; Juanan Novales @eBird), 27.8 (Marcel Gil @eBird; Sergi Sales; J.M.Grande), 29.8 (Mireia Martín, Josep Bujons; Josep Tantull, Roser Solé; Ricard Gutiérrez) and 30.8 (Manolo Sánchez Blanch, Mariska Huub de Graaf) to 31.8 (Alba López et al) and into September.
- Territ Pectoral / Pectoral Sandpiper Calidris melanotos (n=1)
(1) Baix Empordà. The bird found on 30.7 at Baix Empordà Mas Carles ricefields remained there on 3.8 (Joan Estrada Jofra, Montse Jofra).
- Xatrac de bec groc amb caràcters de xatrac elegant/ Orange-billed Tern Elegant Tern-like Thalasseus sp c.f. elegans (n=1)
(1) Montsià. One of the adults showing Elegant tern features remained at El Trabucador, Delta de l’Ebre, on 2.8 (Ramón Ruiz Jarillo).
- Falciot culblanc africà/del Pacífic Apus caffer/paficicus (n=1)
(1) Alt Empordà. On 20.8, a white-rumped Swift either Apus caffer/pacificus was seen at Cap Norfeu, PN Cap de Creus, Alt Empordà (Andreu Duclau). Two snapshots were obtained, see below.
- Rook Corvus frugileus (n=3)
(1-3) Alt Empordà. There were 3 indivuals at Figueres, Alt Empordà, on 15.8 (Manel Barrios @birdingemporda.com).
- Cornella emmantellada / Hooded Crow Corvus cornix (n=1)
(1) Baix Empordà. The bird found on 22.7 at Bassa del Frare Ramon, L’Estartit, Torroella de Montgrí, Baix Empordà was seen again at Torroella de Montgrí on 13.8 (Jordi Vives @ornitho.cat).
- Cuereta citrina / Citrine Wagtail Motacilla citreola (n=2)
(1) Ripollès. On 23.8 a juvenile was seen and photographed at Pardines, Ripollés (Núria Ferrer).
(2) Alt Empordà. There was a juvenile at La Gallinera, PN Aiguamolls Empordà, Alt Empordà on 30.8 (Gerard Dalmau, Miguel Angel Fuentes). See a photo below
