Birding hotspots: Parc de les Heures

Prop del Parc del Laberint d’Horta, però menys conegut, hi ha un parc que ben val una visita. Sobretot si voleu afegir a les vostres llistes espècies boscanes sense moure’s de Barcelona. De fet us hi podeu acostar amb el metro (Linia 3 – Mundet o Monbau).

És el Parc de les Heures.

La seva situació, una mica amagada i propera al Torrent Duran, i la seva cobertura vegetal el fan un petit hotspot per ocells forestals. L’industrial Sr. Josep Gallart Forgas, a finals del segle XIX es va fer construir un palau semblant al castells (chateaux) francesos. Aquest palau, conegut com a Casa Gallart, està envoltat de jardins presidits por unes palmeres de gran alçada i d’altres arbres com magnòlies, acàcies, cedres, alzines, tarongers, etc.

Podeu estrendre la vostra visita anant cap al Torrent Duran i l’ermita de Sant Cebrià d’Horta tot seguint el camí que deixa el parc a la seva dreta i que s’enfila cap a Collserola en paral·lel al torrent.

L’ornitofauna dominant en aquest parc és la lligada a les masses forestals. Les espècies més destacades són Picot verd (Picus sharpei), Picot garser gros (Dendrocopos major), Picot garser petit (Dryobates minor), Picasoques blau (Sitta europaea) i alguns rapinyaires, diürns i nocturs, lligats als boscos com el Gamarús (Strix aluco) o l’Esparver (Accipiter nisus).

Al parc i rodalies també hi ha poblacions d’espècies invasores com la Cotorra de Kramer (Psittacula krameri), Cotorra de pit gris (Myiopsitta monachus) i Rossinyol del Japó (Leiothrix lutea).

Com a remarcable, dir que el 8.10.2015 s’hi va veure un Mosquiter de doble ratlla (Phylloscopus inornatus).

Close to Barcelona’s well known Parc del Laberint in Horta, there is the smaller Parc de les Heures which well deserves a visit, not only from an architectural point of view but also for the birds.

Its situation, close to Collserola Nature Reserve, and its vegetation makes this park a hotspot for woodland birds right next to Barcelona. In fact, you can reach the park by Metro (Line 3, green line, Mundet or Monbau stations). So, if you are visiting Barcelona city and have some spare time, don’t miss it!

At the heart of the park stands the mansion built by the industrialist Josep Gallart Forgas at the end of the 19th century. The house is known as Casa Gallart and it is surrounded by gardens where tall palm trees, cedars, holm oaks and many other species grow.

The birds found in the park are mainly related to woodland. Some interesting species are the Western Bonelli’s Warbler (Phylloscopus bonelli) a spring-summer visitor, the Iberian Green Woodpecker (Picus sharpei), Tawny Owl (Strix aluco), Serin (Serinus serinus), Red-billed Leiothrix (Leiothrix lutea) and Crested Tit (Lophophanes cristatus).

A Yellow-browed Warbler (Phylloscopus inornatus) was recorded on 8 October 2015.
