Després del pas del temporal Glòria, hi ha rareses que desapareixen del mapa com eren el territ fosc o el còlit del desert del mes de gener. L’observació nova més interessant a principis de febrer és un àguila cridanera a Alguaire, Segrià, vista només un dia.

[After the severe gale ‘Gloria’ some rarities seen in January just dissapear. It’s the case of the Purple Sandpiper or the Desert Wheatear. Best new observation by early February is a Spotted Eagle seen at Lleida near Alguaire for a single day].

• Fa 15 anys / 15 years ago

A 1st winter extremely worn Ring-billed Gull Larus delawarensis was found at Ridaura river mouth, Platja d’Aro, Baix Empordà and then moved to Sant Antoni de Calonge on 1.1 (Carlos Álvarez Cros). It was present in the area both months but it was not widely twitched until 30.1 (Pep Arcos) and then from 5.2, when  it was photographed at close range (Jordi Martí-Aledo ; Oriol Clarabuch, Sergi Sales, F.Javier Macia;A.Ollé, X.Macia). Still thre on 9.2. See a photo below (Rafael Armada) and 13.2 (P.Arcos) and 19.2 (Miquel Angel Domingo) to 20.2 (C.Álvarez Cros; Ramon Servitje).Still at Riera de St.Antoni de Calonge on 22.2 (F.López).

On 11.2.2005 a Little Bunting Emberiza pusilla, either a 1w or a female, was seen at close range near El Remolar beach, Remolar-Filipines Reserve, Llobregat Delta, Baix Llobregat (Ricard Gutiérrez, Armand Ramal ; Ferran López).

A drake Green-winged Teal Anas carolinensis was found at La Massona lagoon, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Alt Empordà on 7.2 (Jordi Martí Aledo; Ramon Faura). See a photo below (R.Faura). Still at La Massona, in front of Bruel hide, on 23.2 (Jordi Martí Aledo) then moved to Closa del Puig, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà on 27.2 (Teresa Montràs & Jordi Martí-Aledo).

A single Lesser Flamingo Phoeniconaias minor, not present during January winter count, was seen within the large amount of overwintering Greater Flamingos at Punta de la Banya, Delta de l’Ebre from 15-19.2 (Carles Domingo)

A Sociable Plover Vanellus gregarius was found on 20.2 at Tres ponts area, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Alt Empordà (Toni Alonso). Seen later by more observers (Àlex Ollé, Jordi Martí-Aledo, Marta Sancho, Mª José Larios, Gerard Dalmau, Albert Roca).See a photo below and a thumbnail here (Àlex Ollé).The bird was seen again on 26.2 at Reserva Natural Integral Els Estanys of PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà (Jordi Martí-Aledo).

One Paddyfield Warbler Acrocephalus agricola that had been trapped and ringed on 20.12.2009 was recaptured on 6.2.2010 at Riet Vell reserve, Delta de l’Ebre, Tarragona (Jordi Feliu, Ana Lopez, Ignasi Ripoll, Roger Sanmarti, Ana Dalmau, Albert Lozano, Oriol Muntane, Anne-Marie Andersen, Max B. Pedersen, Annelise Jensen, Cristian Jensen, et. al). There is a picture of the original ringing below (Ignasi Ripoll).

The male Green-winged Teal Anas carolinensis found on 22.1 at La Massona, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Alt Empordà Girona was still there on 1.2 (Ferran López; Irene Barnosell @ornitho.cat) to 4.2 (Carles Oliver).

The Drake Ring-necked Duck Aythya collaris found at La Massona lagoon, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, on 31.12 remained there on 1.2 (Ferran López; Irene Barnosell @ ornitho.cat) to 28.2 (Ramón Aguilar @ornitho.cat) .

The adult Pygmy Cormorant Microcarbo pygmaeus found at La Massona, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Alt Empordà on 13.12.2014 remained there on 4.2 (Carles Oliver) and to 28.2 (Ramón Aguilar @ornitho.cat).

The adult Pacific Golden Plover Pluvialis fulva found at Migjorn fields on 27.8.2014 has overwintered in the Montsià part of Ebre Delta and was relocated during the January winter count (Parc Natural Delta de l’Ebre). On 28.2 it was found within a 76 Pluvialis apricaria flock at Mas de la Comandanta, S.Jaume d’Enveja, Tarragona (Ricard Gutiérrez, Jordi Martí-Aledo). Later seen by Gerard Dalmau.

After 40 days (!) the Brown Shrike Lanius cristatus seen at suburban areas of Deltebre, Baix Ebre, by the river Ebre, on 31.12.2014 then on 6.1.2015 by single author (Iain Hartley) had been last reported, it was relocated and seen again on 9.2.2015 (Ricard Gutiérrez, Sergi Sales) when aged as a 1w and the 1st for Catalunya.

The news were broadcasted but the bird was seen intermitently and was elusive. But it was seen again on 10.2 (Mariano Cebolla, Sofia Rivaes) again with no photos. However, on 11.2 it was photographed (Vicente Tamarit). And on 12.2 too (J.Ignasi Barrachina; Mariano Cebolla). On 13.2 it was not seen in the usual place but on 14.2 a party of over 30 observers coming from abroad and as far as Valladolid relocated the bird at Sorrapa fields, by the place of the 1st sighting on 9.2 and new photos and videos could be obtained. News were featured on 13.2 at Catalan Television Tv3  too. On 15.2 it was seen again at the lemon-tree orchard by a group of c.30 people and a TV3 team. It was videoscoped and photographed (Ricard Gutiérrez, Rafael Armada, Helena Arbonés; Mariano Cebolla, Sofia Rivaes, Felipe Rosado, Fernando Salas, Alberto Somoza, Màrius Domingo, Xavier Aute, Marc Noguera, Pancho Pou, Xavier Idígora et al). On 16.2 it was seen too (Oriol Clarabuch; Quique Carballal et al) and it remained the whole following week: 17.2 (Nico Ordax, Guillem Rius; Carles Oliver), 18.2 (Nacho Castelao, Clemente Álvarez Usategui), 19.2 (Joan Ventura), 21.2 (Jus Pérez Martín, Mª José Valencia) and 22.2 (Miquel Bonet, Manuel Caamaño, Salva Solé, Elvira Morilla, Sara Sánchez), the last days being seen more irregularly due to strong wind conditions. The bird was still visible at lemon-tree orchard, Deltebre, Tarragona on 23.2 (Xavier Jiménez; Jordi Martí-Aledo), 27.2 but at Ebre river promenade, 200m N of lemon orchard (Ricard Gutiérrez) and 28.2 (Joan Antó; Grabi de Jesús et al; Gerard Dalmau et al).

• Cabussó orellut/ Slavonian Grebe Podiceps auritus  (n=1)

(1) Baix Ebre.  The bird seen intermitently at l’Ampolla bay, Baix Ebre from 25-26.11.2019 was reported again from l’Ampolla,  Baix Ebre on 8.2 (Manolo Sánchez Blanch).

• Àguila cridanera  / Greater Spotted Eagle  Clanga glanga  (n=2)

(1) Segrià. A 1w bird was seen flying low near Alcoletge, Segrià on 6.2 (Marc Gàlvez).

• Daurada petita del Pacífic / Pacific Golden Plover  Pluvialis fulva (n=1)

(1) Montsià. The bird found on 24.1 at La Comandanta ricefields, Sant Jaume d’Enveja, Delta de l’Ebre, Montsià was seen again on 1.2 (Georges Olioso @eBird).

• Gavià de potes roses  / Herring Gull Larus argentatus (n=5)

(1-4) Tarragonès. There were 3  1w and the adult coming from 2019 at Tarragona harbour on 1.2 (Raül Aymí @ornitho.cat). A 2cy was seen at Tarragona harbour on 22.2 (Xavier Riera, Raül Aymí @ornitho.cat).

(5) Pla d’Urgell. The adult seen previously was seen again at Estany d’Ivars i Vila-Sana on 5.2 (Quim Minoves @ornitho.cat).

• Graula / Rook Corvus frugilegus (n=16)

(1-9) Alt Empordà. There were nine birds at Vila-Sacra Alt Empordà on 2.2 (Oriol Soler @ornitho.cat)  and 3 at Estany d’en Turies, PN Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, Alt Empordà on 4.2 (Oriol Clarabuch, Albert Burgas, Fran Trabalón @birdingemporda.com). On 22.2 there were 16 a the industrial estate of Figueres (Manel Barrios @birdingempordà.com), on 24.2 three were see at Garriguella, Alt Empordà (Maxime Pastore @ornitho.cat) and on 28.2 at least 12 were there (Manel Barrios @birdingempordà.com).

• Cornella emmantellada / Hooded Crow Corvus cornix (n=7)

(1-2) Baix Llobregat. The pair that bred last year by the river Llobregat was seen near its territory in early February (Ferran López). One was at Parc Agrari, El Prat, towards Nelson Mandela bridge on 8.2 (Carlos Nos @eBird). On 9.2 at Cal Nani (Jordi Sala @ornitho.cat) and on 15.2 at El Prat de Llobregat a single bird was reported (Javier Valladares @ornitho.cat).One was at Can Dimoni, Llobregat Delta, Sant Boi de Llobregat on 17.2 (Freddy Rivas @eBird). On 19.2 one was at Sant Boi too (Rafael González de Lucas @ornitho.cat).One was Sant Boi de Llobregat (Luis Miranda @ornitho.cat) and two at El Prat de Llobregat on 23.2 (Joan Gil @ornitho.cat) and two were recorded at Sant Boi de Llobregat on 25.2 (Rafael González de Lucas @ornitho.cat).
